Adam Sulley has been appointed Deputy Director-General in charge of Operations and Benefits, while Kwesi Afreh Biney has been named the new Director-General of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) by President John Mahama.
These nominations come after Kofi Bosompem Osafo-Maafo’s tenure as SSNIT’s director general was revoked.
His three deputies’ contracts have also been terminated, according to sources who spoke to Citi News.
The affected deputies include:
- Kwame Adu-Darkwa – Deputy Director-General, Finance and Administration
- Juliana Kpedekpo – Deputy Director-General, Operations and Benefits
- Nana Serwah Bonsu Amoako – Deputy Director-General, Investment and Development
After then-President Nana Akufo-Addo dismissed Dr. John Ofori Tenkorang in April 2024 and replaced him with Osafo-Maafo, this represents yet another shift in leadership at SSNIT.
Michael Addo, the then-Deputy Director-General for Finance and Administration, resigned, and Osafo-Maafo, the son of former Presidential Advisor Yaw Osafo-Maafo, took over.
Additionally, Pearl Nana Ama Darko was reassigned from SSNIT to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) as Commissioner for Support Services as a result of his appointment.
Among those whose contracts have been canceled is Juliana Kpedekpo, who had taken Darko’s place at SSNIT.
