Kwesi Appiah Explains Why Partey Could Excel At The World

Former Black Stars coach, Kwesi Appiah, has added to Thomas Partey’s national team performance issues.

Kwesi Appiah has jumped to the defence of Arsenal midfielder, Thomas Partey. The Arsenal midfielder was criticized heavily for not putting out his best for the team in the tournament as he does in the premier league.

Appiah who qualified Ghana for the Brazil World Cup revealed that Partey is limited at Black Stars. His role in the national team is completely different from his club position.

The Premier League side has the best out of the Ghanaian because they use him as a defensive midfielder. Partey lacks the support he gets at his club side.

I would like to use this World Cup. If you look at Arsenal, they use him more like a defensive midfielder, always he plays in front of the defenders,” Kwesi Appiah told Dan Kweku Yeboah TV.

But here we use him as an offensive midfielder who operates on the right side. That means he is enclosed in a small area with the number 10 but at Arsenal, he can move all over the place,” he added.

Partey started all three matches for the Black Star in group stages where they won one of the three. His performance was not encouraging for many fans. Mohammed Salis was the pillar of the black Stars team in Qatar. The midfielder justified his inclusion in the national team.
