LPG Shortage Affects Some Parts of Ghana; TOR Assures Resolution

There is a Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) scarcity in some areas of the nation.

On Thursday, September 26, 2024, Joy Business saw lengthy lines at a few LPG stations in the Greater Accra area.

The Ghanaian LPG Marketers Association has issued a severe warning if the bulk oil distributors’ supply does not improve quickly.

Gabriel Kumi told Joy Business:

“If this problem is not resolved today, then it means going into the weekend, we are likely to have a serious shortage issues. About 60 to 70 percent of us have run out of LPG”,

“This is putting a lot of pressure on the 40 to 30 percent that have the product. If we don’t get the supplies from the BDCs, then by close of tomorrow Friday, September 27, the whole system will be dried up”,

The problems have been fixed, according to the Tema Oil Refinery.

As per TOR, the predicament emerged as a result of preliminary issues with the BDCs.

“We anticipate that supplies will improve very soon, allowing the situation to return to normal,” a TOR source told Joy Business.
