Mahama Begs Companies Leaving Ghana To Stay

National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Dramani Mahama has urged international corporations to stay in the Ghanaian market.

Since 2022, Ghana’s economic climate has forced numerous multinational corporations to move all or a portion of their operations abroad.

Glovo, the largest meal delivery company in Africa, is the most recent to cease operations in Ghana. The Spanish company declared on May 10, 2024, that it will be leaving the Ghanaian market due to issues with profitability and a review of its investment objectives.

The NDC flagbearer stated during the 8th Ghana CEO Summit in Accra that their exit will undoubtedly have a detrimental effect on the creation of jobs, state tax revenue, and eventually economic growth.

He further pledged to establish a business-friendly atmosphere in the event that the NDC prevails in the 2024 elections.

He stated:

“Amid all the companies leaving, our public debts have hit a staggering 658.6 billion cedis. But we cannot despair over the poor quality of governance that has served us in the last seven and a half years. I use this opportunity to appeal to you captains of the industry to tarry a bit more. Please don’t leave our country. There is a saying that the darkest hour is before the dawn,”

“The beauty of our democracy is that it affords us the opportunity to change our current trajectory. You can be rest assured that the new NDC administration will create a conducive environment for businesses to thrive,’’
