As part of his campaign tour in the Greater Accra Region, former President and NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama paid a visit to the Ga Mantse’s Palace on Thursday.
King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II and the Ga Traditional Council, which included chiefs, queen mothers, and opinion leaders, welcomed him with open arms.
In addition to thanking the Ga Traditional Council for their insightful conversations and impressive cultural presentation, Mahama also conveyed gratitude for the royal welcome.
In order to preserve Ghana’s legacy and promote cultural tourism, he underlined the vital role that traditional leaders play in the country’s governance and development strategy.
Additionally, he reiterated his dedication to collaborating with traditional leaders to raise these festivals’ profile and influence.
However, he emphasized the NDC’s Resetting Ghana manifesto’s goals to expand the involvement of traditional leaders in decentralized governance institutions so they can actively participate in the creation of policies that address community needs.
Traditional chiefs are important contributors to Ghana’s progress and stewards of the country’s legacy, according to the NDC presidential contender. In order to promote inclusive governance and improve communities, he promised to strengthen partnerships with chiefs across the country.
“Our chiefs hold invaluable insights into the aspirations of our people. By empowering them to take more active roles in governance, we honour our cultural roots while building a better Ghana,” he added.
