Former President John Dramani Mahama thanked South Korea for forgiving Ghana’s debt, stating it will aid debt restructuring efforts in tough economic times.
Mahama conveyed his appreciation when the South Korean Ambassador to Ghana, Park Kyongsig, paid a courtesy call on him at his office.
Mahama shared glimpses of his conversation with the South Korean ambassador on social media, revealing some of the projects he plans to carry out in the event that he wins the presidency in the general elections scheduled for December 7.
He said:
“I also shared with Ambassador Park the National Democratic Congress’ plans to establish rice mills and Farmer Service Centres to boost our agricultural sector,”
“It was an honour to meet with Ambassador Park Kyongsig of South Korea to discuss the invaluable support and investments South Korea has committed to Ghana.”
Mahama highlighted their discussion on a “$2 billion framework” for healthcare, education, environment, and agriculture, noting it will boost food sufficiency with new rice varieties. He urged South Korea and the international community to support free and fair elections in Ghana.
