Under his next administration, National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Mahama has said that no one who has been politically exposed or appointed by the government will be eligible to seek for scholarships.
According to Mr. Mahama, the present NPP-led government has mishandled scholarship programs intended for those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
During the NDC manifesto launch on Saturday, the former President advocated for substantial reforms to guarantee the equitable and transparent allocation of scholarships.
Government scholarships have been fraught with a lot of ‘kalabule,’ meaning deceit. We want to streamline it,” Mr Mahama stated.
He added that, the disqualification of politically-exposed individuals and government appointees will give the marginalized in society the opportunity to access quality education.
“No political appointee must apply for the scholarships; you must pay. Children underprivileged, those who cannot afford it, are the ones who must get the scholarship,” he pointed out.
