As part of his election campaign plan, former president John Mahama has promised to look for alternatives to the divisive betting tax.
At the NDC’s Youth Townhall Meeting in Accra, the flagbearer of the party voiced concerns and underlined his dedication to addressing important issues that impact Ghanaians.
In the event that he is elected, he promised to remove the Electronic Levy (E-Levy) and the tax on gains from betting.
Mr. Mahama attacked the E-Levy for failing to generate the necessary revenue and for placing undue financial burden on the people.
His campaign pledges are part of a larger initiative to solve the nation’s urgent economic problems.
Additionally, Mr. Mahama demanded a more efficient method of sending local talent overseas.
He asserts that the way professionals currently exit the country due to the economic crisis leaves much to be desired for.
