Mahama’s Silence On ‘Reckless’ Statement By Suame NDC Youth Organizer Makes Him A Bad Leader – Owusu Bempah

A Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ernest Owusu Bempah has demanded former President John Dramani Mahama to condemns the Suame Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Razak Avoliya for the inciteful comment made which led to his arrest.

Mr Owusu Bempah told journalists in Accra on Wednesday, February 15 that the failure of Mr Mahama to break his silence on this development makes him unfit to be president again in Ghana.

John Mahama has no moral right to contest in any elections because the youth organizer in his party has come out to make a reckless statement but he has not spoken on it, he has not issued any statement. He is a bad leader, he can never be president again in this country,” Mr Bempah said.

He added “Mahama is an irresponsible leader. If you are a responsible leader and someone in your party has come out to say this, you couldn’t condemn it and your party people are following this reckless statement. It means he is an irresponsible leader and not fit to lead Ghana again.

“The youth organizer made a nation-wrecking statement, failure of John Mahama to condemn this means he endorses NDC people to go and kill Ghanaians just to win power.”

Meanwhile, Razak Avoliya has been granted GHS 50 thousand bail with two sureties by the Asokwa Circuit court, on Tuesday, February 14.

He was earlier denied bail after being picked up for an alleged hate speech. The prosecutor, ACP Kofi Blagodzie prayed the court for more time to enable the investigations to conclude.

He argued that the release of Razak Avoliya might cause anarchy considering the magnitude of his ‘hate speech’ on Sunday when he granted a local media house interview during an event.

The presiding judge, Fred Obikyere was convinced, despite defense’s plea for bail application.

His lawyer, Mr Evans Amankwah said after he was earlier denied bail that Razak meant whatever he said which has resulted in his arrest.

The Police arrested him following an investigation into a viral video in which he allegedly incited political violence ahead of the next general elections.

Razak reported himself to the Central Police Command in Kumasi in the company of his lawyer, some regional party executives, and sympathizers.

His lawyer told journalists on Wednesday, February 8 that “They charged him with offensive conduct and we were to go to court but unfortunately, after the statement, we realized that time has far been spent so we agreed to go to court [Thursday].

“We will cooperate with the law, we are not perturbed about the detention of our brother here, he will be in the cell till [Thursday]. He is not worried, he meant what he said, he is not in any way perturbed about it but he has no intention of destabilizing the peace of this nation, that is not his intention.

“He was encouraging the people of Suame constituency to fortify themselves in the 2024 elections because anything can happen, for that matter, they should be prepared to defend themselves, that is exactly what he said. So anything apart from that is a misinterpretation of his words in the video.”
