Man nabbed after year-long hunt; confesses to killing partner and 2 children in Kasoa

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has arrested Samuel Amoah, popularly known as Biggie, in connection with the murder of three people at Tuba Net-Link Estates, a suburb of Kasoa in the Central Region.

Briefing journalists in Accra on Saturday, September 20, the Director-General of the CID, COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, recounted that the killings took place on May 19, 2024, after police received a distress call about a violent attack in a residence.

Officers arrived to find the lifeless body of 39-year-old Alberta Hagan and two of her children lying in a pool of blood in their room. A third child was discovered alive but with multiple deep head lacerations and bleeding from the ear, while a five-month-old baby was found unharmed on a sofa in the living room. The injured child was rushed to the hospital for urgent treatment, and the deceased were transported to the Police Hospital morgue for autopsy and preservation.

“Postmortem examinations confirmed that the victims died as a result of severe head injuries caused by assault,” COP Donkor revealed.

Investigations later identified Amoah, who had been cohabiting with Ms Hagan in a romantic relationship, as the prime suspect. According to police, the relationship had soured over financial disagreements, culminating in a violent confrontation. “In a fit of rage, the suspect attacked Alberta and the two children who witnessed the incident,” COP Donkor said.

Amoah fled the scene immediately after the killings and managed to evade arrest for more than a year. However, after sustained intelligence-led operations, police apprehended him on September 17, 2025, at Suhum in the Eastern Region.

During interrogation, he confessed to the crime and expressed regret over his actions. He is currently in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations, and will soon be arraigned before the court on multiple charges, including murder.

“The Ghana Police Service assures the public that this case is being handled with urgency and professionalism to ensure that justice is served for the victims and their families,” COP Donkor stressed.
