Man Posing As A Soldier Gets Bail Of GH₵150,000

At the Obuasi Circuit court, His Honour Mark Deboro Tairima granted 26-year-old Eric Opoku a GH₵150,000 bail with three sureties.

Opoku was arrested for robbery and impersonating a military officer at Nyamesuyede near Kwabenakwa in the Obuasi East District of the Ashanti region.

Kingsley Akoyie, the victim, expressed satisfaction with how the judge handled the case when speaking to Adom News. Opoku’s arrest occurred due to the alleged robbery and impersonation incident.

The granting of bail with three sureties was an outcome of the hearing at the Obuasi Circuit court presided over by His Honour Mark Deboro Tairima. Opoku, 26 years old, faced charges of robbery and impersonating a military officer in Nyamesuyede near Kwabenakwa in the Obuasi East District of the Ashanti region. The victim, Kingsley Akoyie, expressed contentment with the judge’s handling of the case in a conversation with Adom News.

Kingsley Akoyie expressed that the GH₵150,000 bail with the three sureties alone is fulfilling to him. Additionally, he mentioned that the court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of an accomplice in the case. Eric Opoku would reappear before the court on Friday, May 3, 2024.

Eric Opoku was arrested on March 24, 2024, during a robbery attempt at a galamsey site after pretending to be a military man. Unfortunately, his accomplices managed to escape, leaving Eric to face the consequences alone. Following this incident, the court granted him GH₵150,000 bail with three sureties.

The bench warrant issued for the arrest of an accomplice indicates that the court is actively pursuing justice in this matter. Eric Opoku’s scheduled reappearance before the court on Friday, May 3, 2024, will mark the next step in the legal proceedings. Kingsley Akoyie’s satisfaction with the court’s actions suggests that the legal process is proceeding in a manner that he finds fulfilling.
