Medical distribution company donates ultrasound machine to KNUST

A medical technology distribution company, Cassona Global Imaging Ltd, has donated a state-of-the-art ultrasound machine to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) College of Health to boost its teaching and diagnostic capabilities with the donation of a state-of-the-art.

The “Mindray Consona N6 Ultrasound” machine, valued at $40,000, was presented on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at the university’s School of Health in Kumasi

It expected to significantly strengthen healthcare training and delivery in the country, particularly in rural communities where access to advanced medical imaging remains limited.

With the new system, medical students and professionals will gain hands-on experience in ultrasound diagnostics, sharpening their skills to meet the country’s growing demand for quality healthcare.

The Mindray Consona N6 is a cutting-edge diagnostic platform designed for diverse applications, including general imaging, cardiovascular care and women’s health.

Among its standout features are Mindray’s ZST+ technology, which delivers exceptional image clarity with pixel-level precision; a 21.5-inch Full HD LED monitor; a rotatable control panel for ergonomic use; and advanced imaging capabilities such as 3D/4D volume imaging, Doppler studies and elastography for comprehensive diagnostics.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Cassona Global Imaging, John Chigbu, described the donation as “a step towards bridging the gap in healthcare infrastructure and training in Ghana.”

He said Cassona aimed to help build a robust healthcare ecosystem by providing modern medical equipment, technical support and professional training.

Officials further indicated that the collaboration between Cassona and KNUST was set to deepen, with prospects for further investments and joint projects.

KNUST Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. David Asamoah, expressed the university’s gratitude for the gesture, emphasising that it aligned perfectly with KNUST’s mission to produce world-class health professionals.

“We extend our deepest appreciation to Cassona Mindray for believing in our vision and investing in our future. This partnership will enhance the training environment for our students and drive innovation and excellence in education and healthcare,” he said.

The university said it would explore additional opportunities with Cassona to advance medical education, foster research and ultimately enhance healthcare delivery across the country.

The International Marketing Manager of Mindray’s Global Radiology Product Sales and Marketing Department, Alvin Liu, emphasised the company’s commitment to sharing its latest technologies with Ghanaian medical professionals.

“This donation is part of our efforts to improve healthcare in Ghana and beyond. We aim to empower students and practitioners to provide better services,” he stated.
