MoMo Vendor Murder: Suspect Apprehended In Upper East

A suspect in the robbery and alleged murder of Benjamin Apuri, a mobile money salesman, and another victim at Pwalugu in the Upper East Region has been taken into custody by the Savannah Regional Police Command.
After an intelligence-led police operation, the suspect, Nuhu Mumuni, was captured in Mankarigu, a suburb of the North Gonja District in the Savannah Region.
During a news event in Damongo, Savannah Regional Police Commander COP Samuel Winful confirmed the arrest and mentioned that Mumuni had been on the wanted list for the Upper East Region. On April 8, 2025, he was taken into custody in his Mankarigu hideout.
Benjamin Apuri, a mobile money agent in Pwalugu, was shot and died during the robbery incident on March 3, 2025, and the robbers grabbed an undisclosed sum of money.
The suspect may be moved to the Upper East Region for trial, according to the Savannah Regional Police Command.
COP Additionally, Samuel Winful cautioned mobile money dealers to exercise caution and vigilance in their surroundings. He suggested that they keep an eye out for any suspicious activities and notify the police so that the proper action can be taken.
The police are dedicated to obtaining justice for the victims of this heinous crime, and the arrest represents an important milestone in the investigation.
