MTN ’s Y’ello Care Initiative Supports 25 Senior High Schools

As part of their yearly volunteer program, MTN Ghana is teaching digital literacy to students in 25 senior high schools around the country in collaboration with a number of partners.

Launched in 2007, the 2024 MTN Y’ello Care initiative seeks to improve educational performance and close the digital divide.

In addition to receiving instruction in robotics, artificial intelligence, and digital technologies, the students will have access to the Ghana Knowledge and Skills Cloud-Based Platform (GKSB), which is a database of study materials and previous exam problems.

Aburi Presbyterian Secondary Technical School in the Eastern Region, Church of Christ SHS in the Ashanti Region, and Sunyani SHS in the Bono Region are a few of the institutions that gained advantaged of the programme.

Schools in a number of regions are part of the program’s reach: Ahafo, Bono East, Northern, Western, Western North, and Central.

The Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer at MTN Ghana, Adwoa Wiafe, emphasized the importance of the initiative, stating:

“Through these initiatives, we are supporting efforts to make educational materials more accessible to students. Our objective is to bridge the digital gap and help improve educational outcomes by leveraging technology for teaching and learning.”

“Education for Rural and Remote Communities – Learn Today, Lead Tomorrow” is this year’s Y’ello Care topic.

In honor of MTN’s 30th anniversary, the program, which usually lasts for 21 days in June, has been extended to 30 days this year.

The technological projects are managed in association with Nude 8, Eastern Hub, Npontuo, Duapa Workspace, and Coral Reef Innovation Hub.
