Nana Yaa Jantuah Of CPP Supports Mahama For President

Ahead of the general elections in 2024, John Dramani Mahama, the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has received the formal endorsement of Nana Yaa Jantuah, the former general secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP).

During the NDC’s last campaign event at Zurak Park in Madina, Accra, she told Joy News that she strongly supported Mahama, pointing to his background as a leader and the necessity of a change in Ghana’s governance.

“I am here because of John Mahama. I believe Ghana needs to be liberated and freed from the current challenges. The only political party capable of leading this change right now is the NDC,” she stated.

Nana Yaa Jantuah emphasized Mahama’s leadership abilities and accomplishments throughout his tenure as president. “I formally support John Mahama to be Ghana’s next president.

He has previously commanded this nation and performed extremely well. She went on, “I think it’s time to give him another chance to finish the good work he started.”

It is unclear from her endorsement if she has formally shifted her allegiance from the CPP to the NDC.

Previously, Nana Yaa Jantuah worked for the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) as the Manager of Public Relations and External Affairs.

After members nationwide petitioned the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) to dismiss all national officials due to perceived incompetence, she resigned as CPP General Secretary in December 2023.

At a pivotal meeting in Kumasi, the NEC then passed a vote of no confidence in all national executives.

In August 2020, Nana Yaa Jantuah was chosen General Secretary of the CPP.
