The National Democratic Congress (NDC) urges the Electoral Commission (EC) to swiftly organize an emergency session of the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) to discuss issues surrounding the alleged shortage of Biometric Verification Devices (BVDs) and the reported disappearance of a component from Biometric Verification registration kits.
The NDC expressed concern due to the apprehension among its leadership, members, supporters, and sympathizers regarding the situation. They perceive these incidents as a significant menace to the integrity of the December elections, jeopardizing their fairness, transparency, and freedom.
“The NDC therefore wishes to request for an emergency IPAC meeting to enable all political parties to discuss these crucial issues and come to a consensus on how to promote free, fair and transparent elections,” the party said in a letter signed by its General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey
“Additionally, per your calendar, you were supposed to call an IPAC meeting to enable all political parties to discuss these issues and come to a consensus on how to promote free, fair and transparent elections,” it added.

The missing BVDs at the EC has raised serious concerns about the integrity and preparedness of the electoral process. The BVDs are crucial tools for voter verification during elections, ensuring the accuracy and legitimacy of the voting process.
Reports of the disappearance of these devices have sparked outrage and suspicion among political parties, civil society organizations, and the general public. Many are questioning how such a critical component of the electoral infrastructure could go missing, especially considering the potential implications for the upcoming elections.
The Electoral Commission, tasked with ensuring the smooth conduct of elections in Ghana, faces mounting pressure to address this issue transparently and expediently. There are calls for thorough investigations into the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of the BVDs, as well as accountability measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
