NDC Youth In Damongo Lock Up YEA Office
The Savannah Regional Office of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) in Damongo has been locked down by the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) youth wing.
Reports of purported attempts to remove artifacts from the office on the evening of President John Dramani Mahama’s swearing-in prompted this action.
NDC member Abdallah Amidu told Channel One News that they were informed about the removal of things and stepped in right away.
“We ordered the youth to halt the evacuation and subsequently reported the matter to the police,” Amidu said.
The situation has raised concerns among residents, with calls for a thorough investigation to determine the motives behind the alleged evacuation attempt.
“On the day of the inauguration of John Mahama, some of our people called us in the thick of the night around 1 AM and reported that some of the members of the NPP had come to the YEA office with motors and vehicles and were packing tailoring machines, hairdryers alongside tools and equipment meant for Masons.
“We reported the case to the police. They came around and advised both parties to look at the place till the new government settled. The fact is, the NDC was trying to protect the state properties.”
Channel One News received confirmation of the action from Raphael Akati Mahama, Regional Director of the Youth Employment Agency.
He attested to the fact that NDC Youth had shut his office.
He also denied the young person’s assertions that the office had been evacuated of its contents.
