NPP Doubles Up Efforts To Secure Hohoe Seat In Volta Region

In the Hohoe Constituency in the Volta Region, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has stepped up its efforts to hold onto the parliamentary seat that John Peter Amewu secured in 2020.

This comes after the NPP Campaign Team was recently established with the goal of sapping the NDC’s support in the Alavanyo Traditional Area, home of Worlanyo Tsekpo, the party’s parliamentary candidate.

The Hohoe parliamentary elections were heavily influenced by the Alavanyo and Hohoe Zongo populations; for this reason, the NDC’s decision to field an indigenous candidate revived its chances of victory.

To dash the NDC’s aspirations, Prince Ellis Antsroe, an additional Alavanyo native, is in charge of the local governing party’s campaign apparatus.

The goal of Mr. Antsroe’s cooperation with John Peter Amewu’s team was to provide the NPP’s campaign in the Alavanyo area a fresh perspective.

In an effort to propel his supporters and kinsmen toward the NPP, Mr. Antsroe is pleading with them to support Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and John Peter Amewu in order to ensure further progress.

Previously, he had withdrawn his intention to challenge John Peter Amewu in the NPP primary and endorsed the latter’s rerun.

Given that Francis Fiakpui is an Alavanyo native, the NDC’s problems have been made worse by his selection to the position of Chief Executive of Hohoe Municipality.

It is said that the appointment, which gives an Alavanyo native the top position in the Municipality, was made in order to placate the locals and restore their faith in the future growth of the community.

It is said that the NPP government’s sponsorship of the building of a minor hydro plant, a resource center, and jobs for Alavanyo youth among other projects has improved the incumbent MP’s standing in comparison to his NDC opponent.

In the general elections of 2020, John Peter Amewu broke the opposition party’s hegemony in the Hohoe Constituency by defeating Prof. Margaret Kwaku of the NDC.

His landslide triumph, which he compared to a tsunami, was reported at 26,952 votes as opposed to Prof. Kwaku’s 21,821.
