The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has taken disciplinary action against former Member of Parliament (MP) and Minister of State, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, for allegedly making public statements that contravene party directives.
In an official statement issued by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP accused Adwoa Safo of violating a directive that prohibits party members from discussing internal matters in the media. The statement cited her recent comments on the Pulse Show on Joy News as an example of this violation.
The party emphasized that such public discussions create “unrest, negativism, and disaffection” within the NPP, undermining efforts to rebuild and maintain unity. The directive, referenced in the statement, was issued under the reference number NPP/HQ/PR/2025/03/DAM.
“As a former MP, Former Deputy Majority Leader, and Former Minister of State under the erstwhile NPP government, she was expected to set a good example and adhere to the principles of discipline, loyalty, and unity,” the statement read. “Her failure to do so not only reflects poorly on her but also contravenes Article 3(5) of the Party’s constitution.”
In light of these concerns, the party has referred Adwoa Safo to its National Disciplinary Committee for further action.
This development marks the latest disciplinary measure taken by the NPP as it seeks to maintain party cohesion ahead of the 2028 general elections.
