In anticipation of the 2024 election, thousands of New Patriotic Party (NPP) followers are anticipated to assemble at the Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS) in Takoradi today, Sunday, August 18, to see the official unveiling of the party’s platform.
The party’s massive health walk in Sekondi-Takoradi, the capital of the Western Region, yesterday is scheduled to conclude at 1:00 pm.
On Monday, August 5, NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong issued a statement in which he said that an eleven-person committee had been formed to organize and carry out the launch ceremony.
The committee is chaired by Madam Oboshie Sai-Coffie, and Ms. Abena Asante is the secretary.
What to expect:
The Director of Communications for the Bawumia campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has announced that the party’s manifesto will focus on job creation and business development. Aboagye stated that approximately 90% of the manifesto will focus on jobs and businesses in the private sector, highlighting the NPP’s commitment to fostering a thriving economy driven by private enterprise. He highlighted that the NPP is the only government in Ghana’s history to have created more jobs within eight years than any other government.
Aboagye emphasized the quality of these jobs, stating that they are not just temporary fixes but sustainable positions that offer long-term security. He believes that this year’s election should be about jobs and businesses, as many young Ghanaians still need employment. He acknowledged the significant strides made in job creation but acknowledged that there is still more to be done.
Aboagye also discussed the broader strategy of job creation, stating that it is not just about numbers but also about building a value chain. He emphasized that Ghana has invested heavily in modernizing TVET to equip young people with the right skills, and that these companies are prepared to employ close to 13,000 to 14,000 young people.
