The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has launched a scathing attack on the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing the administration of failing to deliver on its promises.
He questioned the government’s commitment to good governance, citing rising economic hardship, the worsening menace of illegal mining (galamsey), and political victimisation through mass dismissals in public institutions.
“Ghanaians are asking questions. Mr President, you promised to reset the country, but your reset has turned into mass termination of appointments. Is that your 24-hour economy?” he queried.
Addressing party faithful at the NPP’s National Delegates Conference in Accra today, Mr Frimpong criticised President John Dramani Mahama for what he described as a deafening silence on the anti-LGBTQ+ bill and for allowing illegal mining to thrive, even in his own constituency, Bole Bamboi.
“You made noise about galamsey under our government, but today, galamsey is everywhere—even in your backyard,” he added.
The General Secretary reaffirmed the NPP’s readiness to return to power in 2028. However, he stressed the importance of discipline within the party, warning aspirants against premature campaigning.
“Until nominations are officially opened, no one has the right to campaign. Anyone who wants to lead this party must respect its structures and authority,” he said.
He added that personal ambition must never supersede the collective interest of the NPP.
