Stephen Ayesu Ntim, National Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party, has been named National Petroleum Authority (NPA) Board Chairman.
Since 2017, Joe Addo-Yobo has held the role of NPA Board Chairman; he is replaced by Mr. Ntim.
Tuesday, May 21, 2024, saw a brief ceremony at the Ministry of Energy where Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Minister of Energy, swore in the NPP Chairman.
The Energy Minister wrote on his Facebook wall that he was certain Mr. Ntim could lead the board.
He wrote: “[The] National Chairman of my beloved New Patriotic Party, Mr Ntim is not new to leadership and therefore, I have no doubt that, he has what it takes to steer the NPA to achieve its objectives for the benefit of all Ghanaians,”
Furthermore, according to Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, “the new downstream regulator chairman should concentrate on three main priorities: bolstering regulatory frameworks, improving operational efficiencies, and guaranteeing that the NPA operates with the highest standards of integrity and accountability.”
Stephen Ntim, a multilingual Systems Engineer with over 20 years of experience, has served in various roles within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) since 1992. He has held various executive and corporate positions, including Director of BINSCO Associates and Managing Director of Detroit Computer Images. Ntim is a member of the National Black MBA Association, Minnesota Chapter, and the National Council of Patrons of the Association of Methodist Church Choirs. He is also a Life Patron of the Wamfie Youth Association and a member of the Brong Ahafo Patriotic Caucus (BAPAC). In the 2018 election, he came second with 2,515 votes, behind Freddie Blay’s 3,021 votes. His expertise in Management Information Systems will help create a digital platform for the party and the country.
