Nursing Trainee Allowances Expected Next Week – Bawumia

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President and NPP flagbearer, has announced that the delayed nursing trainee allowances for 2024 will soon be paid to nursing and teacher trainees nationwide.

These allowances, which were reinstated by the Akufo-Addo government after being canceled by the previous Mahama administration, have been on hold for several months.

During a large gathering with youth in Nalerigu, North East Region, where many nursing and teacher trainees were present, Dr. Bawumia shared this news, which was met with cheers from the audience.

The youth were excited by the NPP flagbearer’s announcement, especially the nurses who cheered and praised Dr. Bawumia. After the announcement, Dr. Bawumia reminded everyone that the NPP government supports nursing and teacher trainees and the youth through its policies, unlike Mahama and the NDC.

What Bawumia said:

“On the nursing training allowance, we have been able to agree on what to do come this Thursday.

“The Minister of Finance has sent me a message which says that on Thursday, the Controller and Accountant General is going to transfer 177 million Ghana Cedis to the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Health will transfer it to the Nursing trainees,”

“My opponent in December and his party, the NDC, cancelled the nursing and teacher trainee allowances. But we came in and restored it. We are committed to it and I am very committed to it that is why I have been following up on it,”
