Outrage As Adum Fire Victims Resist KMA, NADMO’s Reconstruction Efforts

Traders impacted by the disastrous fire at Adum PZ in Kumasi have protested against the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) and the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA).

Due to intentions to evacuate them from the Blue Light Arena market area, traders impacted by the disastrous fire at Adum PZ in Kumasi have protested against the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) and the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA).

After the fire, the authorities ordered vendors to leave the area so that a new truck route and a renovated market area could be built.

Many of the impacted vendors, especially young entrepreneurs, have objected to the idea and are demanding that they reconstruct the market themselves.

Traders protested yesterday, claiming that the relocation would disrupt their companies and expressing irritation over the lack of consultation.

They called on the authorities to reconsider their decision and allow them to restore their shops without interference.

Meanwhile, KMA and NADMO maintain that the proposed redevelopment is aimed at improving accessibility, safety, and overall market conditions to prevent future disasters.

Authorities are expected to engage with the traders to address their concerns.
