PAC Tells AMA Auditor: Find The Missing GH¢110,000 in 2 Weeks

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has come under fire from the Public Accounts Committee of Parliament, which also gave its internal auditor, Ridwan Kokroko, a two-week ultimatum to produce information on GH¢110,000 in unexplained income.

Six AMA revenue collectors were found to have neglected to deposit GH¢151,000 into the assembly’s account, according to the Auditor General’s report.

A portion of the money has been recovered, according to AMA authorities, but GH¢110,000 is still missing.

James Klutse Avedzi, the committee chairman, blamed the internal auditor’s carelessness for the predicament and emphasized the urgency of taking swift action.

Avedzi expressed his disappointment, stating, “You are not doing your work as an auditor. You are not! I don’t believe that an officer is not well, and for that matter, the file cannot be retrieved.”

The committee told Ridwan Kokroko to find the lost file and show proof of the GH¢110,000 deposit within two weeks.

If Kokroko doesn’t do this, he’ll have to pay back the missing money and take responsibility for it.

This warning shows how serious Parliament is about making sure public money is handled properly. It’s a reminder to all officials to do their jobs carefully and honestly.
