After initially reporting that Paris Saint-Germain were closing in on the signing of French international winger Ousmane Dembélé from Barcelona, RMC Sport now indicate that barring any last-minute changes, the move will go ahead.
This month, the former Rennes and Borussia Dortmund man’s release clause was down to €50m – from August onwards that figure doubles. The clause is part of the extension he signed last year, which followed a long-running transfer saga that had temporarily seen the wide man sidelined from the squad.
The management at PSG are focusing their efforts on getting a deal across the line before tomorrow night, when the clause expires. Dembélé has been with the Catalans for the past six seasons, and played in the Clásico exhibition match yesterday, in which he opened the score.
Concurrently, Kylian Mbappé’s one-year extension option also expires on Monday evening, leaving club president Nasser Al Khelaifi’s ultimatum set earlier this summer without a reply.
