Parliament passes 2025 Appropriation Bill

Parliament has approved the 2025 Appropriation Bill, authorizing the government to allocate GH₵293 billion from the Consolidated Fund and other public resources for the upcoming financial year.

This legislation establishes the framework for government expenditure, ensuring funds are directed toward key economic sectors.

The approved budget includes significant allocations, with GH₵68 billion designated for wages and salaries, underscoring the government’s commitment to compensating public sector employees. Additionally, GH₵13 billion has been allocated for the settlement of arrears, addressing outstanding financial obligations from previous years.

The passage of the bill marks a crucial step in securing funding for government operations and developmental initiatives throughout 2025. It provides the legal foundation for investments in infrastructure, social services, and economic programs aimed at national growth and stability.

Following the bill’s approval, First Deputy Speaker Bernard Ahiafor confirmed its passage, stating, “Hon. Members, the Appropriation 2025 is now read the third time and accordingly passed.”

With this legislative approval, focus now shifts to the government’s implementation of the allocated funds, ensuring effective utilization for national development.
