Photos: Alajo Accident Leaves Driver Critical, 6 Others Injured
An accident occurred in Accra’s Alajo area, involving a commercial vehicle with registration number GE 1848-11 and a pickup with registration number GR 5445-Z. The collision left about seven individuals injured, including one driver in critical condition. The incident took place on Friday morning.
According to an eyewitness speaking to Adom News, the commercial vehicle, traveling from Lapaz towards Kwame Nkrumah Circle, collided with the rear of the pickup. The impact caused significant damage to the front of the vehicle, forcing passengers to exit through the windows to escape. The driver was trapped, requiring assistance from passersby to free him. Concerns of a potential fire arose due to the engine still running, prompting onlookers to disconnect wires to prevent it. Policemen at the Alajo traffic light intervened, arranging for the victims to receive treatment in a taxi.
“No driver wanted to pick them because they were bleeding profusely but the Policemen forcibly stopped a taxi driver who conveyed them to the hospital.
“We directed them to Alajo Polyclinic but cannot tell if that was where they are or were sent straight to Ridge Hospital,” he narrated.
While traveling from Adeiso to Nsawam, a police patrol team from the Nsawam Police District also encountered an accident. A Toyota pickup with registration number GP 3030 experienced a mechanical issue at Uptown on the Adeiso-Nsawam road. Five victims are currently at Nsawam Hospital and the vehicles impounded for testing as part of police investigations.
