President John Dramani Mahama has directed an immediate investigation into the tragic deaths of up to eight individuals, reportedly illegal miners, during a violent clash at a mining site in Obuasi.ý

In a statement issued by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Acting Spokesperson to the President, the government emphasized its commitment to uncovering the circumstances surrounding the clashes. To support the victims and their families, the government has tasked AngloGold Ashanti, the company managing the mining site, with covering all medical expenses for the injured and facilitating burial arrangements for the deceased.
