Prof. David Asamoah Becomes KNUST Pro-Vice Chancellor
At the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Professor David Asamoah has been elected as the new Pro Vice-Chancellor.
On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, senior university members conducted polls, and Prof. Asamoah received 436 votes out of 918 total.
Professor (Mrs.) Helen Michelle Korkor Essandoh of the Department of Civil Engineering and Professor Charles Frimpong of the Department of Industrial Arts were his competitors.
Professor (Mrs.) Essandoh received 186 votes, placing her third, while Professor Frimpong received 296 votes.
However, the two leading candidates will be presented to the University Council for consideration pursuant to the University’s election statutes for Pro Vice-chancellorship.
Prof. David Asamoah, a KNUST professor with a bachelor’s degree in electrical and Electronic Engineering, master’s degree in business administration, and PhD in Logistics & Supply Chain Management, is the Head of the Department of Supply Chain and Information Systems at the School of Business. He has extensive experience in university administration, including serving as Vice-Dean and Head of Department. Asamoah has also served as a Research Fellow and Senior Technical Advisor at the Centre for Applied Research and Innovation in Supply Chains – Africa (CARISCA). He has also served as Deputy Chair of the Governing Council for the Institute of Project Management Professionals and a Faculty Advisory Board member for Sunyani Technical University.
