Prof Opoku-Agyemang Steps Down As Chancellor of Women’s University Of Africa

Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) running mate, has traveled to Harare, Zimbabwe, to formally step down from her position as Chancellor of the Women’s University in Africa.

The NDC running mate James Agyenim-Boateng said in a statement that Prof. Opoku-Agyemang will be free to devote herself entirely to the John Mahama for President 2024 campaign as a result of the withdrawal.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang worked with the university’s administration, Board of Trustees, and Council during her seven years as Chancellor to reorganize the organization and make it more effective and financially self-sustaining.

The statement emphasized her leadership in making sure the university catered to young women who had been expelled from high school and to women who missed the chance to pursue higher education at a younger age but wished to do so later in life.

In addition, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang was instrumental in attracting more female students to the Women’s University of Africa through the provision of flexible learning alternatives and the development of experiential programs that effectively bridge the gap between theory and practice.

On August 30, she will preside over her last graduation ceremony before flying back to Accra the next day.
