Project Save the Veterans: GRDA's Heartfelt Tribute to Music Legends
Ghana Reggae Dancehall Awards Launches Social Responsibility Initiative to Support Ailing Music Heroes. The Ghana Reggae Dancehall Awards (GRDA) is proud to announce its social responsibility project, “Save the Veterans,” aimed at giving back to the music industry and honoring the legacy of its pioneers. This year’s initiative focuses on supporting two beloved veterans: the late Mac Tontoh, a trailblazer of Afrobeat, and Ras Kweku Mensah (aka Mokin), a renowned Reggae Dancehall artist.
The Inspiration Behind Project Save the Veterans, The GRDA team was moved by the current health challenges faced by Mokin, a legendary figure in Ghana’s Reggae Dancehall scene. This sparked a desire to establish a trust fund to support our ailing heroes, ensuring they receive the care and recognition they deserve. Mac Tontoh’s legacy, though cut short, continues to inspire generations, and we honor his memory through this project.
Dinner Dance and Fundraiser Events, To raise funds for the trust fund, the GRDA will host a series of dinner dances and fundraisers. These events will bring together music enthusiasts, industry professionals, and well-wishers to celebrate the contributions of our music veterans. The evenings will feature live performances, auctions, and raffles, with all proceeds going towards the trust fund.
