The results of the elections held on December 7, 2024, in the Greater Accra Region’s Ablekuma North constituency have been placed on indefinite hold by the Electoral Commission (EC).
According to information obtained by JoyNews, the suspension resulted from differences in the outcomes from 20 polling places.
Forty-two of the 62 remaining polling places in the constituency have been cleared.
The returning officer claims that before announcing the legitimate winner of the seat, he needs a full day to verify the results from the 20 polling places.
In the meantime, NPP candidates won all three seats in the Tema Central, Okaikwei Central, and Techiman South constituencies after collation was successfully finished.
A disagreement between the two major parties, the NDC and the NPP, regarding who had won the seat was followed by the recall of the constituency’s results.
Later, the NPP filed a lawsuit to have the collation procedures, which were completed earlier today, Sunday, January 5, completed.
