Samia Nkrumah Explains Why She Rejected Cheddar’s Offer As Running Mate

Samia Nkrumah, the former chairman of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), has explained why she declined Nana Kwame Bediako, also referred to as Cheddar, for the position of running mate in the next election.

The alliance was suggested by Cheddar, the head of the New Force party, who cited his respect for the Nkrumahist heritage and his wish to carry on the first Ghanaian president’s legacy.

Cheddar considered Samia as a suitable partner to assist realize this objective. Cheddar draws inspiration for his political path and goals from Nkrumah’s zeal and vision.

Samia Nkrumah revealed that she turned down the offer, even though it was flattering.

Her choice was motivated by her desire to run for Parliament again, particularly the Jomoro parliamentary seat, which she had previously won but lost to Dorcas Affo-Toffey in a previous election.

Samia clarified that she feels the Nkrumaist tradition has to be represented in Parliament and that she has dedicated a great deal of time and money to recovering the Jomoro seat.

Samia made it clear that she believes in Cheddar both inside and outside of politics when she responded to a question about whether her choice to decline his offer was motivated by misgivings about his philosophy or his twelve principles of administration.

She did, however, emphasize that politics calls for a calculated approach, particularly during emergency situations.

Samia thinks that many forces should unite in order to handle the urgent problems of the day, like housing, education, and poverty, given Ghana’s economic difficulties.

In her opinion, winning a seat in Parliament and making sure that Ghana’s future is shaped by the Nkrumaist legacy are the greatest ways to support this endeavor.
