Hajia Samira Bawumia has asked Zongo societies to rally behind her husband, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the impending general elections.
The Second Lady emphasized the only way to ensure the continuation of the transformational agenda for Zongos is the victory of the NPP.
Samira Bawumia was a guest speaker at the recent Ramadan Conference at the Kumasi Central Mosque. The event was themed: “Advocating The Contribution of Zongo Queen Mothers and Female Clerics to National Development”
She said the standard of living in the zongo communities has been raised by the NPP since ascending into government since 2017. This she said been done through various developmental and empowering projects alongside her husband as the Vice President. It therefore would only make sense to vote for Dr. Bawumia into power to ensure the continuation of the agenda.
She acknowledged the role of Muslim societies and their contributions towards nation building while urging them to preach on peace. She cited herself as an example to motivate them realize their potentials and abilities.
Chairman of the Hajj Board, Dr. Abdallah Banda also spoke in unison with Mrs Bawumia. He reminded the gathering to always remember the relationship between the zongo communities ahead of the elections.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was elected the flagbearer of the NPP last year after pulling 66% in the title race last year.
