Samira Bawumia To Lead Opening Ceremony At 2025 Global Energy Conference In Barbados

Samira Bawumia, the Founder and Chair of the Africa Women and Children Conference (AFRIWOCC) and a global advocate for sustainable energy and climate action, is due to launch the 2025 SEforALL Global Forum in Barbados.

In order to accomplish Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG7), which calls for universal access to reasonably priced, dependable, and sustainable energy by 2030, the summit will be a historic occasion that will spur partnerships, investments, and policies.

Sustainable Energy for Equity, Security, and Prosperity,” this year’s theme, emphasizes how urgent it is to increase energy access, meet climate targets, and promote sustainable development, especially for disadvantaged groups.

It is anticipated that Mrs. Bawumia would emphasize the vital role that clean cooking solutions play in the global energy transition.

The former second lady is also anticipated to advocate for the incorporation of mini-grids into clean cooking programs, lowering dependency on conventional fuels, and guaranteeing that energy regulations give priority to environmental sustainability, gender parity, and health.

Samira Bawumia, the former second lady, has been a steadfast supporter of clean energy projects. In recognition of her exceptional efforts to increase energy access, SEforALL and Ashden, a London-based charity, named her the first of seven honorees at the renowned Seven for 7 Awards in 2019.

She also serves as a Global Ambassador for the Clean Cooking Alliance and a Global Champion for the Clean Air Fund and World Health Organisation (WHO)’s Health and Energy Platform for Action, and several other causes aimed at improving the lives of women and children.
