Sammi Awuku Improve Hygiene At Aburi Girls SHS With NLA Sanitation Project
Sammi Awuku, Director General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) and Akuapem North Parliamentary Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), along with the NLA’s Good Causes Foundation, have commissioned a new toilet facility at Aburi Girls Senior High School.
Initiated by Madam Amma Frimpomaa, National Coordinator of the NLA’s Good Causes Foundation and an alumna of Aburi Girls, the project includes a 12-seater toilet, a separate 2-seater toilet for teachers, a changing room, and two borehole water facilities.
This initiative aims to significantly enhance sanitation and hygiene standards within the school.
During the project’s handover ceremony, Sammi Awuku urged both the school and the authorities to uphold environmental best practices in order to prevent disease outbreaks.
“This facility that we have established today falls under two of the pillars of Good Cause Foundation, which is supporting an educational facility and health-related matter.”
Speaking about the Foundation’s operations, Hon. Awuku stated that the NLA’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is involved.
He clarified that the project’s delivery is consistent with the Authority’s goal of giving back to Ghanaians, as the public’s support and patronage of their goods and services has allowed them to continue operating and surviving throughout the years.
It was announced the Authority had built and inaugurated 16+ toilet facilities, installed boreholes in communities, and aided vulnerable groups like widows and the disabled. Hon. Awuku assured the school’s maintenance, citing weather challenges.
He praised the school’s management, alumni, and staff for upholding educational standards. The NLA boss affirmed the facility’s role in supporting education and urged alumni to increase support, while encouraging students to stay disciplined and focused on studies.
In addition, he sent his best wishes for exam success to the final year students.
The NLA Good Cause Foundation was congratulated for this effort by Frank Boadu, the MCE of Akuapem North, and he urged other institutions to follow suit.
To serve future generations, he pleaded with the school to keep up the building.
In the meantime, the Aburi Girls SHS school prefect thanked Hon. Sammi Awuku and the NLA from the bottom of their hearts and pledged to maintain the facilities.
