School Feeding Caterers Given Directive To Resume Service

The Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) has instructed all current caterers to start serving wholesome meals to students nationwide as basic schools reopen on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.

As part of the School Feeding Program, the order seeks to guarantee that students in Ghana’s 16 regions continue to get one hot, wholesome meal every day.

The GSFP, in partnership with the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection (MoGCSP), reiterated its dedication to the initiative’s successful execution in a press release released by the National Coordinator.

One of the fundamental pillars of the national plan to promote education and enhance child nutrition is still the School Feeding Program, which presently serves more than four million students in public basic schools across the country.

The GSFP emphasized that the present administration will shortly implement a new caterer procurement procedure that was previously outlined.

It is anticipated that this procedure, which entails cooperation with pertinent parties, would improve the program’s effectiveness and transparency.

The GSFP has urged stakeholders and community leaders to help caterers carry out their mandate without interference in the meantime.

According to the GSFP, full payment for the Third Term of the 2023/2024 academic year has been completed. Additionally, 40 out of 71 cooking days’ arrears for the First Term of the 2024/2025 academic year have also been cleared.

The GSFP assured caterers that the remaining 31 days’ arrears for the First Term of 2024/2025 will be settled soon, further underscoring the government’s commitment to ensuring the smooth operation of the programme.
