Blay Nyameke, the Sekondi Member of Parliament (MP), has declared his intention to move the monument of former President Akufo-Addo from the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in the Western Region to Kyebi.
But according to Mr. Nyameke, he will first ask President John Mahama for approval.
He claims that there isn’t enough of Akufo-Addo’s legacy in the area to warrant a monument.
He claimed that rather than using a statue to self-glorify himself, the former president ought to have prioritized the town’s development.
“Why is there a statue of Nana Addo in the Western Region? What did she do for us? Our communicators will move to the statue’s hometown.
“Our President (Mahama) will grant us permission to move the statue to Kyebi and erect Kwame Nkrumah’s statue there,” he declared.
I don’t need Akufo Addo’s statue in my constituency. I will ask permission from President John Mahama to relocate the statue to Kyebi
