The performance of Finance Minister Designate Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson and Energy Minister Designate John Abdulai Jinapor during their vetting by the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Monday, January 13, 2025, was praised by former Finance Minister Seth Terkper.
Dr. Forson commended Terkper’s prior work as Finance Minister during the interview process, stating that if appointed, he would take inspiration from some of his policies.
Terkper praised the two nominees in an interview with Vivian Kai Lokko on Channel One TV, highlighting their commitment, knowledge, and development.
“I was proud of the two gentlemen because Honourable Jinapor also mentioned that at a point when I was supervising minister for power, he was my deputy. So this is a day in which one couldn’t be less gratified with what was going on,” Terkper remarked.
Additionally, he recognized their noteworthy contributions to Parliament, emphasizing their participation in numerous debates and changes.
Terkper acknowledged Jinapor’s accomplishments in the electricity industry and praised Forson for his long stay as the ranking member and later as a leader.
The compliments notwithstanding, that is not to take anything away from them… So I must say, their mentioning my name is, yes, complimentary, but I must say these are subordinates who have risen as a result of taking the work in Parliament seriously, and they deserve the credit for what happened today,” Terkper added.
