Six-Month-Old Baby Loses Life In Devastating Navrongo Fire
On Sunday, January 12, a six-month-old infant died in a terrible fire that started in Nogsenia, a suburb of Navrongo in Ghana’s Upper East Region.
The local community was shocked and in mourning following the horrible event that happened early in the morning.
According to witnesses, the fire spread quickly, consuming a couple’s room before nearby residents could step in. Rescue attempts were all but impossible due to the severity of the fire.
Unfortunately, the baby could not be saved despite the neighbors’ best efforts to put out the fire.
Shock and smoke inhalation caused the baby’s mother, who was apparently inside the house at the time of the tragedy, to lose consciousness.
For emergency care, she was sent to the War Memorial Hospital in Navrongo.
Along with the terrible death toll, the fire destroyed a number of personal things, such as clothing, home goods, and crucial papers.
The survivors were left without a place to live after the family’s main residence was turned to ashes.
