Sports Ministry Spent GH₵142M On Black Stars

The Sports Ministry spent  GH₵142,426, 907.36 million on the Senior National Teams, the Black Stars and Black Queens, prior to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

According to a document circulating online, the Sports Ministry released a total of GH₵8,183,400.00 million on the two-legged World Cup qualifier between Ghana and Nigeria.

Ghana qualified for the World Cup finals after beating Nigeria in Abuja. After the match, there was a misunderstanding between the supporters of the host nation.

A total amount of GH₵63,019,369.62 million in funds was released for the Black Stars’ participation at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. After that, GH₵8,009,366.40 was released for the payment of the FIFA Rights Fee for the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation.

The Sports Ministry also released a total of GH₵57, 224, 301.74 million in funds for Black Stars in Qatar. Black Stars left the competition on the group stage. Managing just a win in three games in Qatar.

Ghanaians after the tournament are demanding accountability from the ministry. Before the World Cup,  Mustapha Ussif, revealed that the budget for Black stars was $14.1 million.
