The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced the formation of a new Management Committee for the Senior Male National Team, the Black Stars, with former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah serving as Vice-Chairman.
Appiah, celebrated for his leadership on the pitch during his playing days, will now take on an off-the-field leadership role. In his capacity as Vice-Chairman, he will focus on player relations, working closely with the team to ensure their welfare and motivation as they represent Ghana. He will support Dr. Randy Abbey, the Chairman of the Committee, who will also spearhead engagements with the government and other stakeholders.
Committee Members and Roles
The newly formed committee includes prominent figures in Ghanaian football administration:
Dr. Randy Abbey: Chairman and GFA Executive Council member.
Samuel Aboabire: Chairman of the Greater Accra Regional Football Association, responsible for operations and matchday activities.
Moses Armah: President of Medeama Sporting Club, overseeing sponsor and partner engagements.
Richard Nsenkyire: President of FC Samartex 1996, managing special duties.
Mandate and Objectives
The Management Committee is tasked with managing administrative and logistical aspects of the Black Stars, including:
Coordinating with the technical team to set strategic plans and activity schedules.
Ensuring effective camping arrangements and logistical support.
Monitoring the release of funds for team operations.
Facilitating smooth communication between players, officials, and stakeholders.
Overseeing travel arrangements and ensuring professional conduct from team members.
Additionally, the committee will collaborate with the GFA’s Marketing and Communications Departments to meet sponsor commitments and maintain transparency with the public.
