Sylvester Mensah Appointed As CEO Of Ghana EXIM Bank

Hon. Sylvester Adinam Mensah has been named the Ghana Export-Import Bank’s (GEXIM) acting CEO by President John Dramani Mahama.

In line with the Ghana Export-Import Bank Act 2016 (Act 991), he will be in charge of the Bank’s fulfillment of its mandate to assist the Government of Ghana in its pursuit of a viable and sustainable export-led economy.

In that capacity, he will oversee the Bank’s endeavor to support and foster trade between Ghana and other nations, foreign investments made by Ghanaian companies, and the removal of significant market failures in the Ghanaian economy, all of which will make Ghana competitive in the international marketplace.

Renowned for his proficiency in public sector banking, fund management, strategic financial management, and governance, Hon. Sylvester Adinam Mensah is a distinguished finance professional and former senior banker.

He has a track record of providing creative financial solutions and strategies, and he is a Certified Strategy Professional and Fellow of the Institute of Business Consulting (FIBC), UK.

He oversaw the creation of strong credit acceptance standards and credit risk criteria while serving as Head of Public Sector Banking at Intercontinental Bank (Ghana) Ltd. Among other clients in the public sector, Sylvester offered business consultancy and strategic investment services.

Prior to becoming the Chief Executive of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), where he oversaw the NHIA fund, Hon. Mensah was a Member of Parliament for the La Dadekotopon Constituency.

In order to improve efficiency, he introduced a number of measures and revised and enlarged Ghana’s Health Insurance Scheme.

At the moment, Hon. Mensah holds the positions of Adjunct Lecturer at the Nobel International Business School, where he teaches the Certified Strategy Professional (CSP) program, and Senior Lecturer at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).

Hon Sylvester Mensah holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Ghana Business School, and an MBA in Finance from the University of Leicester in the UK. He also holds a number of diplomas and certificates from various distinguished universities abroad.

With over two decades of experience in providing both practical and academic instruction in Corporate Strategy, Strategic Management, and Strategy Execution, he possesses the financial and managerial acumen to lead and transform Ghana Export-Import Bank.
