Tema Port Truck Drivers Plan Sit-Down Strike on May 6

Truck drivers operating at the Tema port have announced their plan to begin a sit-down strike on Monday, May 6, 2024. Their decision stems from a range of grievances, including frequent attacks by armed robbers, harassment from uniformed personnel, and instances of unlawful detention, which they demand be promptly resolved.

In an official notice, the drivers made it clear that come Monday, May 6, no trucks will be operational at the ports in Ghana. This action serves as a collective protest aimed at drawing attention to their concerns and pushing for immediate action to address them.

Additionally, the drivers have scheduled a press conference on the same day at the JAPTU Ghana Secretariat situated at the Tema Port. During this conference, they intend to elaborate on their grievances and advocate for concrete measures to be taken to ensure their safety and fair treatment while operating at the port.
