TEWU-TUC Declares Strike Today

The Teachers and Educational Workers Union of the Trades Union Congress (TEWU-TUC)  has commenced a nationwide strike today, Monday, November 18, over the government’s failure to address persistent concerns about their conditions of service.

TEWU-TUC has voiced strong frustration over prolonged delays in finalizing, signing, and implementing updated conditions of service for employees under the Ghana Education Service (GES), the Ghana Library Authority, the Museums and Monuments Board, as well as Public Technical and Traditional Universities.

The union highlighted that negotiations for these revisions have been ongoing for years, leaving members increasingly dissatisfied.

Meanwhile, the National Labour Commission (NLC) has summoned TEWU-TUC and other relevant stakeholders to a meeting on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.
