Three Lives Lost, 20 Critically Injured In Gomoa Okyereko Accident
A horrific tragedy at Gomoa Okyereko Junction in the Gomoa East District of the Central region has left three passengers dead on the spot and twenty more critically injured.
Early on Thursday morning, a Hyundai Grace with registration number GR 5899-22 and a VW Sprinter Benz Bus with registration number GW 5477-24 were involved in an accident.
Kweku Atta, an eyewitness, said that the Hyundai Grace was traveling from Winneba to Kasoa, and the Sprinter driver was traveling towards Takoradi.
According to Kwesi, the Sprinter driver improperly overtook the Hyundai Grace and collided with it.
Two male and one female passengers are among the dead.
The 20 critically ill victims are all being treated at Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital’s Accident and Emergency Unit.
Ahead of the Christmas festivities, D02 Fredrick Adu-Poku, the commander of the Winneba Municipal Fire Service, has warned vehicles to avoid unnecessary overtaking.
He claimed that if the driver had been a little more patient, the collision might have been avoided.
