Transport Fare To Go Up By 15% Starting July 22

With effect from Monday, July 22, the Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana has declared a 15% rise in transportation fares.

The Association brought up the rising cost of fuel, pointing out that certain oil marketing businesses were now charging more than GH₵15 for their products.

This choice has been made even more necessary by the rising costs of necessities like spare parts, which are critical to the transportation industry.

Concerned Drivers Association of Ghana Public Relations Officer David Agboado voiced worries about the negative impacts these growing expenses are having on the transportation industry.

He underlined that the current economic pressures justify the fee rise.

Mr. Agboado claims that drivers are unable to bear the rising cost of fuel, which is having a huge negative influence on their income.

In light of the growing expenditures, the ticket rise is considered an essential step toward ensuring the viability of their operations.

With the beginning of July’s second pricing window, a number of Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have raised their pump prices.

Leading OMC Shell has increased the price of gasoline from GH₵14.80 to GH₵15.10 and diesel from GH₵14.92 to GH₵15.25 per liter. It’s anticipated that more OMCs will soon follow suit and raise their pricing.
