TUSAAG To Launch Nationwide Strike By End Of September If Demands Are Not Met

If their demands are not met by the end of September 2024, the Technical University Senior Administrators’ Association of Ghana (TUSAAG) has vowed to go on a statewide strike.

TUSAAG expressed their dissatisfaction with the government’s disregard for its collective bargaining agreement, despite numerous pledges, in a statement released on September 8, 2024.

The Ministry of Finance gave the Association instructions to adopt amended allowances for senior members of public universities in May 2024, and the Association claimed that by doing so, the government was infringing their rights.

They further emphasized that an addition to the collective bargaining agreement, reached in July 2024, has yet to be enforced.TUSAAG also claimed that unions representing comparable worker categories at public institutions were not paid common allowances, a practice that constitutes discrimination.

The Association is requesting that the agreed-upon fees for fuel, utilities, off-campus parking, vehicle maintenance, and sanitation/security allowances be paid immediately.

In the event that the September 2024 salary validation does not show these payments, TUSAAG has decided to launch a national strike.
