UDS Delays Reopening Indefinitely Due To Ongoing Strike

The University for Development Studies (UDS) management has announced that the reopening date for the 2024–2025 academic year, which was initially scheduled for September 27, 2024, has been postponed indefinitely.

The Teachers and Educational Workers’ Union of the Trade Union Congress (TEWU-TUC), the Senior Staff Association – Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG), and the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) are the parties involved in the current industrial action that led to this judgment.

The university’s ability to provide academic services has been severely damaged by the strike.

The unions are upset about the suspension of some agreed-upon benefits, the non-payment of car maintenance allowances, and the delayed pension payments.

The university has assured students and the general public that they will be updated on any new developments regarding the reopening once the industrial action is resolved.
